Booze, Broads and Hot Rods

A few weeks ago I played hooky from work so that I could drive up to San Francisco to go to Booze, Broads and Hot Rods. Fernando plays drums part time for Almon Loos and the Hoop 'n' Hollers and they were one of the scheduled acts. I packed a very small bag and we headed first to LA to pick up Danny and Jesse, the other Hoop 'n' Hollers, before driving on to San Francisco to meet Almon.

The drive to San Francisco is very pretty, even though I only took a few pictures of the snow capped mountains.

See? It snows in California!!

We checked into the hotel and Almon, a barber, gave the boys haircuts. Can't have em looking all scruffy!!

Vintage barber pic.

We headed downstairs so they could play.

I got my new camera the day before so I was still working out the settings.

I don't think e was ready for the pic.

My man.

Mmmhmmm.
My dress. I love the pocket. It held my camera, room key, money, and lipstick.

My bakelite.

With Kim, one of the Bombshells putting on the event. I swear I have a dress similar to hers in my 'to mend' pile. I think its blue though...

Danny, Fernando, and Jesse AKA The Hoop 'n' Hollers.

My San Francisco family. Love Teresa's dress. I wonder if she got it from Relic Vintage, Orans new store.

The show was great! Roddy Jackson was amazing and there were tons of dancers. The only downside is that I got sick. Karma for playing hooky from work, right?

Thrifting Finds

Today Fernando and I stumbled upon a thrift trader store. It was in a huge warehouse that was packed with clothes and vinyl. So much vinyl that it would take forever to sift through all of it! This place was like Buffalo Exchange on crack! No real vintage clothes to speak of, but I still managed to walk away with some cute pieces. All in all we spent $40.

Peasant style top. Its a bit big but I think I can take it in.

Love the lacy ruffles!

40s style sweater. The color is much more teal than it looks here.

Polka dot ruffled cami.

Red flats I was in desperate need of.

3 woven belts and one black velvet one.

Fernando's stack of 45s.

Recent Purchases

Here are the things I've purchased recently. I went on a bit of a spending spree...

49er Jacket
Ebay
$11.50

I really hope this fits me as I didnt do any proper measuring, but I only have one 49er so I took a chance on this one. I really like the color.

Flutter sleeve blouse
Forever 21
$17.80

Styling is everything, and this blouse looks really cute tucked into my high waist jeans. Its super pretty and flirty.
Vintage corset top
Etsy
$18

This will look great with skirts. I need more casual separates like this.

Black sheer peasant top
Kmart
$12

This was a nice surprise at Kmart. Most modern peasant blouses are way too long and this one is a shorter length. Its cute and simple. It comes in pink too.

Vintage floral dress
Ebay
$30

I'm really excited for this dress! I think it is so pretty! Its casual yet feminine, and will be perfect for summer.

I love the print!!

Lena Hoschek Spring/Summer 2012

I adore Lena Hoschek!! Her designs are absolutely stunning! They all have a vintage look to them, and her models are usually styled like pin ups. She is based out of Austria and her clothes are quite pricey, but that doesn't mean I can't drool over them.

Her are some pictures of her latest collection:

The fabulous Lena Hoscshek herself.

Some of my favorites from this collection.

Viva Las Vegas-Purchases

I did not buy a lot at Viva this year. Partly because I knew I would have to buy a new camera, and partly because a lot of what I saw and liked was quite pricey. I did manage to walk away with a few goodies though.

Another bottle of Layrite Grooming Spray. This stuff is great as a setting spray and doing rolls.
$10

Flower barrettes. The white one is my new favorite but I need to add some glitter glue to make it really nice.
$5 each

40s/50s plaid dress. Marked $85 but I got it for $42

It has one hip pocket detail that I think is really cute.

I got this gingham dress for $42 as well, marked down from $85. I needed a new one.

I did not purchase this dress for myself but I was going to. I tried it on and Fernando talked me out of it. Then he snuck back and bought it for me. Such a sweetie :-)
Its a 50s Tea Timer. I love these!

Originally they were sold with capris that you would wear under them. This one is missing its capris, as they usually are. Its ok though. I will just get some black leggings.
