Again, if you have a blog and I don't link to it just let me know so I can!
I'm sorry I missed the initial post. I hope I'm not too late. Attached is a picture me with Don Ho. I'm wearing one of my favorite dresses of all time, an old Alfred Shaheen sarong dress. When I purchased it, nearly 15 years ago, I'd never seen a dress like it or had ever heard of the master printmaker. The first time I wore it was to a rockabilly event, the next day the store had a rush of girls wanting to know if they had any more like it. It has been a staple in my wardrobe ever since.
I love clothes that are the product of adventures and then inspire new adventures in turn! This house dress was a $5 clearance find at Who is Silvia? - a vintage store in Woodstock, Vermont I found while on vacation. I love the whimsical print and buttons and the fact that taking off the belt makes it into a comfy lounging outfit for around the house. The picture was taken at a classic 50s style diner called Handy Lunch in Newport, Rhode Island. Wearing a dress that fit so well with the decor (and the amazing vintage Coke machine) really added to the experience - for a moment I felt transported in time! I love how wearing vintage has that effect.
hey kitten i entered days ago and forgot to send my photo of me in my vintage...This is one of my favorites because it is the real me! I'm wearing a vintage 40's swirl gingham wrap dress...out campin'! Yep...even out campin', in the Arizona desert. Snugglin up with my hubby in my 53' vintage trailer & my vintage farm dresses! I love the look of the photo as it reminds me of an ol' photo from yester years...just a switch to black and white and i'd say my Daddy-o & I could pass this on to our lil' ones as a vintage peek at us and our style...this dress was a score on ebay...and is supper comfy! thanks for the giveaway! Cat...The Vintage Housewife
Sorry the quality of this photo isn't the greatest. This is my favorite vintage-inspired picture. It was taken for Hallowe'en when I was supposed to be Amy Winehoue. Whenever someone sees this picture of me, they say I look like a disgruntled house wife. Thanks for letting me enter your contests.
